The double braid stitch is also called as Gordian Knot because for making two loops for each stitch and is normally done perpendicularly across two rows of square grid. The braid stitch forms a decorative line of loose round knots and can also be worked horizontally.
Bring the needle up at 'a' from a thread loop around the needle, go down at 'b' and come up at 'c' tighten the thread around needle and create a second loop by placing the needle's point over the thread as you pull through.
Form next loop around the needle and continue the pattern till the end.
