Thread cutters

Thread Cutters are also called in many names such as thread clipper, yarn clipper, thread nipper, snips, weavers or textile scissors. They are small scissors that fits in the palm. It has small sharp pointed blades that are made up of stainless steel and the spring action design helps to reopen the blades after each cut. It has two-way humanized positioning design so that it can be used by both right and left hand.

They are useful in nipping excess thread, making buttonholes, in embroidery and general utility and is budget friendly.       

                                    

Dressmakers shears

The Dressmaker Shears are the best shears for cutting the fabric. A typical one has a one bent-angle and one straight blade. To hold, it has a round thumbhole and an irregular oval finger hole. They are available in several lengths out if it 7-, 8- and 10-inch ones are used most commonly.

The bent angle of the bottom blade lets the fabric lie flat on the table and prevents you from lifting the fabric as off the table as you cut through and ensures a more accurate cut. Good quality shears are made of high-quality steel and lasts for a long time. Cutting paper can blunt them and should only be used to cut fabrics. Both left- and right-hand models are available.

                               

Pliers

The Pilers are ideal tools for easy gripping and holding tiny objects and are designed for precise and fine work. There are many types of pliers available in market such as the side cutter, chain nose, round nose, flat nose, bent nose, heavy duty, crimping etc. to carry out specific tasks such as cutting, bending, looping wires useful in jewelry making, quilling and beading.

Apart from it they can also be used in closing and opening of metal rings as in purse chains, removing or shortening zipper teeth, attaching rivets and buttons etc.

Hammer

A hammer is a general-purpose tool with heavy head and with a handle for holding. Tack hammers are small hammers that are used in upholstery (that is attaching fabrics to furniture).

They come in handy while working with rivets, grommets or jeans buttons. Bulky seams can be hammered to set before sewing. 

                            

Disappearing Ink Pens

The Disappearing ink pens provide a precise and smooth line that gradually fade and vanish in few days. The ink evaporates into the air within a period of 2 to 14 days depending on humidity and temperature of the working area and also the amount of ink applied. 

These are great for temporary marking of fabric and has wide application in embroidery and sewing.

                                   

Permanent Fabric Markers

The permanent fabric markers come in vibrant different colors and have fine tips which helps in outlining and creating fine detailed designs on fabric. In embroidery these are used when the entire area is covered with embroidery or sometimes to highlight the areas of embellishment as an added decoration feature.

It is also used to paint do it yourself designs on clothes, shoes, bags and other fabric materials. It works best on white or any light-colored fabrics.

                                 

Water Soluble Markers

The Water-Soluble Markers produce lines that wash off (non-permanent ink usually blue) and they have a look of a regular pen. These pens are great to mark in the areas that one will be working quickly as the marks may become more difficult to remove if they sit very long.

These are very useful for embroidery, dressmaking, quilting and can be cleaned by spraying a little clean water or else can be removed with wet cloth or sponge.

                                 

Fabric Pencils

Fabric marking pencils come in many different types which are available in market. They can be made of chalk, soapstone, wax, graphite etc. It is important to test each individual pencil on a small project fabric before using it on the project (especially leaving behind mark on the fabric).

These pencils form thin accurate lines and is used to transfer patterns and measurements to fabric, marking pleats, pocket positions, buttonholes, darts etc.

                                                  

Rubber Thimblettes

The Rubber Thimblettes are mainly used for working with paper. Also, during hand sewing, it is worn on fingers as these can help to grip the needle as one pulls the needle through one or more layers of fabric.
