Pintuck Presser Foot

The pintuck presser foot is a specialized sewing machine foot that has a series of evenly spaced grooves on the underside designed to sew raised tucks (pintucks) into the fabric. The pintuck foot works with the help of a twin needle to create raised tucks in the fabric. The foot usually comes with 3, 5, 7 or 9 grooves and works best with lightweight fabrics. The pintuck foot is used for embellishing garments, decorate pillows, table or bed linins etc.

To use it: Attach the pin tuck foot. Remove the standard needle and insert a twin needle. Thread the machine with two spools of thread, one on standard spool pin and other on axillary spool pin. Thread both threads through the machine's thread path until it reaches the needle. Place one thread on the eye of one needle and other to the eye of another needle. Set the machine for straight stitch with medium stitch length (one may increase the upper thread tension for more pronounced effect). Finish sewing the first row and then the first tuck serves as a guide for next tuck to be sewn. One can also experiment with intersecting rows of tucks to create texture in the fabric.
