Zig-Zag Stitch

The Zig-Zag Stitch is an easy stitch which is sewn in single pass. It is used on outlines and in closed rows as filling.

Bring the needle up at 'a' and go down at 'b', then again come back up at 'a'.

Go down at 'c' to create a diagonal stitch and come up at 'd'.

Go back down at 'c' and come up at 'd', then go down at 'e' to create a diagonal stitch.

Continue this pattern till the end of the row.

Fern Stitch

Fern Stitch Also known as Fly Stitch has a connecting straight stitch between each V-shape. It is an easy stitch which can be used on leaf veins and delicate foliage sprays. It is worked across three parallel lines.

Bring the needle up at 'a' go down at 'b', come up at 'c'.

Next, send the needle down at 'b' and come back up at 'd'.

Go back down at 'b' and come up at 'e'.

Repeat this pattern till the end of the row.

Cable Stitch

Cable stitch is also called as Alternating Stem Stitch or Side-to-Side Stem Stitch. It is an easy stitch used for curved outlines and for narrow borders. The stitch creates a line with a bricked appearance.

Bring the needle up at 'a'. Insert it at 'b' and bring it up in the center at 'c' and pull through so that the thread loop lies below the needle.

Insert the needle at 'd' and bring it back up at 'b' keeping the thread loop above the needle.

Next, keeping the thread loop below the needle insert at 'e' and come up at 'd'.

Repeat this pattern till the end of the row.

Spiral Hair Pins

Long Arm Cross Stitch

The Long Arm Cross Stitch is the long-legged variation of cross stitch worked horizontally. It is visually similar to Herringbone stitch but is worked in a different way. It is worked perpendicular across two parallel lines. This stitch used to fill the rows or used as a border stitch.

Bring the needle up at 'a' go back down at 'd' and come up at 'c'.

Go back down at 'b' and come up at 'c'. Then go back down at 'f' and come up at 'g' then back down at 'd' and come up again at 'e'.
