Off-Shoulder Silhouette

Off-the shoulder refers to not covering the shoulders. In off-the-shoulder design the garment consists of low neckline, normally elasticated extending around upper part of the arms baring the shoulders. Sometimes it consists of straps or sometimes without anything exposing the collarbone and frequently finished with a wide ruffle around the edge. This style became popular in 1930's and 1940's for the evening gowns and since then also used in blouses, evening dresses and gowns.
