Ballgown Silhouette

Women's dresses designed for formal occasions or social functions are often called formal gowns, evening gowns or ball gowns. A Ball Gown silhouette is a formal floor length dress with a fitted bodice and a full-length voluminous skirt that dramatically flares out from the waist. It is characterized by elegant and glamorous style and is often made from luxurious fabrics like lace, tulle pr satin and also with embellishments like beads. The fullness of the skirt is created by layers of fabrics, ruffles, petticoats or in some cases structural additions like hoops (circular band of metal, wood or other similar material) or horsehair trim (stiff netting often made of polyester). The ball gowns conceal the lower portion of the body and hips and is flattering for most body types.

Closed Blanket Stitch

Closed Blanket Stitch is a version of Blanket Stitch which is worked horizontally using two rows of diamond grid. This stitch is used for decorative edgings and borders around necklines and hemlines and also filling rows.

Bring the needle up at 'a' go down at 'b' and come back up at 'a' bringing the tip of the needle over the thread to form a loop.

Go back down at 'b' come up at 'c' bringing the needle point over the thread to create the loop.

Repeat and continue till the end of the row placing each new stitch beside the preceding stitch.

Roller Presser Foot

The Roller Presser Foot is a specialized sewing machine foot with textured rollers, that is a longer roller in front and a set of small rollers in the back. The machine feed dogs move the fabric along under the foot and the textured rollers work from the top side of the fabric helping to move the fabric smoothly during sewing. The primary purpose of the roller foot is to smoothly feed the difficult-to-sew materials such as textured, slippery, thick, sticky, and heavy knit fabrics that resist feeding with a standard presser foot. Some roller foot comes with its own shank; therefore, it will be necessary to remove the machine's presser foot holder and then attach the roller foot using a screwdriver. After attaching the roller foot be sure to check that the needle is correctly lined up with the opening of the foot. The roller foot is ideal for sewing projects involving leather, vinyl, thick denim, heavy wool, upholstery fabrics, velvet, thick knit fabrics and also light weight chiffon fabrics.

Offset Backstitch

Offsetting is an embroidery technique that can be created with most of the stitches by working multiple passes. In Offset Backstitch two rows of backstitch is worked simultaneously across two parallel lines. The stitch appears as a formation resembling brick pattern.

Come up at 'a', go down at 'b' and come up at 'c', go down at 'd' continue this pattern till the end of the row.

Tail Comb

A Tail Comb also known as a pin tail comb is a comb with a tapering handle used in styling, to divide, to lift or curl the hair. It is a hair styling tool with a comb at one end and a thin tail like sectioning tool at the other end.
