Satin Stitch Foot

A satin stitch foot also known as applique foot is a specialized sewing machine foot ideal for applique, satin stitching, monograming or embellishments on projects when decorative stitches are very dense. The foot is often made of transparent plastic with a groove underside which allows dense stitching without distorting the fabric and also prevents the tunneling effect (that is fabric puckering under the dense thread). A variant of the foot with an open toe offers maximum visibility especially while applying applique patterns. The foot works optimum with a tight zig-zag stitch (width 2 to 3 mm and length 0.3 to 0.5 mm). It can also be used with metallic thread along with a metallic needle.
