Single Feather Stitch

In Single Feather Stitch the needle enters at a 45-degree angle across two parallel lines. It can be used as edging or applique stitch, for decorative outlines and borders etc.

Bring the needle up at 'a' and hold the thread with finger to right of 'a' (working left to right). Insert the needle at 'b' and come back up at 'c' placing the needle's point over the thread and pull through.

Pull the thread such that it lies tightly against the thread at 'c' and continue the process till the end of the row. This stitch can also be worked downwards.
