Elastic Hair Bands

An elastic hair tie or elastic hair band is a stretchable loop used to fasten or secure hair especially for creating ponytails, buns or braids. They are primarily used to hold hair in place for specific hairstyles. They are available in various colors, sizes and materials (rubber or elastic) to hold different styles. Unlike a headband which goes around the head the hair bands are small, circular, elastic loops for securing gathered section of hair.

Plain elastic bands: A simple rubber or elastic band.

Scrunchie: An elastic band is encased in a fabric tube. These are gentle on hair and also acts as a decorative element.

Spiral or Coil ties: Spiral coils are generally used to hold thick hairs to avoid tangles and damage.

Satin Stitch Foot

A satin stitch foot also known as applique foot is a specialized sewing machine foot ideal for applique, satin stitching, monograming or embellishments on projects when decorative stitches are very dense. The foot is often made of transparent plastic with a groove underside which allows dense stitching without distorting the fabric and also prevents the tunneling effect (that is fabric puckering under the dense thread). A variant of the foot with an open toe offers maximum visibility especially while applying applique patterns. The foot works optimum with a tight zig-zag stitch (width 2 to 3 mm and length 0.3 to 0.5 mm). It can also be used with metallic thread along with a metallic needle.

Applique Patches

Applique patches are the decorative pieces of fabric stitched or fused on a foundation fabric by machine or sewn by hand. The primary purpose is to add texture and embellishment to the garments, linens or quilts. The technique is derived from the French word 'to apply' and involves layering on to the fabric and securing it with stitches, often satin stitch around the edges. The iron on applique requires setting the iron to right temperature, followed by ironing and cooling. These versatile patches are perfect for decoration and also repair.

The stand short sleeves extend further down the arm a couple of inches, whereas cap sleeves stop short hugging the shoulder closely providing good air flow ad breathability. They are more suitable for arrow builds highlighting toed arms and collar bones. Cap sleeves are versatile and suitable for both casual and formal wear.
